Ales Stenar

Constructed around AD 600 the 67m ship-shaped rocks of Ales Stenar are fascinating. It is believed that the stones were erected as a solar calendar.

Not only are the stones a site to revel in but their surrounds are marvelous. It is where grasslands met the ocean and you can rest on the cliff overlooking the spectacular southern coast.

What's more is the region is well known for its eel! So after lazying about the stones and enjoying the spectacular weather Oliver and I decided to try the local delicacy.

I liked it. It was oily and chewy but so so good! On of the eel we got a combination of different fish and breads while sipping on a micro-brewed beer!

What an awesome and relaxing day!
