A stone through away from Lund, Hjärup is a lovely little place to visit for an hour. During the week it is deathly quiet and you could be tricked into thinking you are the only person there.
It takes three minutes by train from Lund as it is only 5km away. It could even make for a nice stop on your bicycle.
What is there is do in Hjärup? Well, not much to be totally honest but it is a pretty little town that is well known for its architecture. Why? Jakriborg, in Hjärup, was built in the late 1990s with traditional (or pre-industrial rather) architecture in mind. It is so strange to think that the buildings are so new because when you walk through the little town you can't help but imagine a horse-drawn cart and women in bonnets parading through.
So to answer the question you can walk around for a little bit, take in the town, have a look at the neighbouring fields and then possibly settle in for fika (coffee and cake) whilst reading a book. There is a lovely little cafe as you enter the town and it is bright and open giving a wonderful view of the town square. I imagine the town has a little more action during weekends as is evident from the many verandas.
There are also a few boutique shops selling Swedish delicacies and wild meat. If that is not to your liking you can always stop at the small candle dipping shop and make yourself your own awesome creation.
Although small and barely visible on the map this little town has a lot of charm and a short stop for some coffee would be ideal as you carry on your journey to bigger places like Malmo or Copenhagen.
